A MOTORIST who managed to tangle a petrol pipe around his trailer escaped unhurt, despite driving off and destroying the entire pump.
The clumsy driver, who has not been named, ripped the pump from its mooring when he left the Shell filling station unaware of the danger.
Firefighters were called to the incident, which happened in Gomersal on Monday, but no-one was hurt in the accident.
A Fire Service spokesman said: "The pumps have an automatic cut-off for such an eventuality. And as a result there was only a small amount of fuel spilled."
