A DRIVER is stable in hospital after collapsing at the wheel in Longroyd Bridge.
The 68-year-old man was driving his blue Mazda with his wife as a passenger when he blacked out on Longroyd Lane – near the junction with Manchester Road.
The incident happened at 12.50pm on Wednesday.
The man slumped over the wheel and his car veered to the left. It stopped when it hit some railings.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
The man – who was suffering health problems – was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary by ambulance.
He has since undergone surgery and his condition is described as stable.
