A driver escaped injury in a crash in Huddersfield.
The driver got out of his car shaken up but not badly hurt after it ploughed into traffic lights in Southgate in the early hours.
The crash was on the pedestrian crossing across from the Sainsbury’s superstore and police said had it happened during the day, there could have been a tragic ending.
The incident meant police had to close the Southgate stretch of the ring road for a short time.
A police spokesman said: “The driver hit the traffic lights after coming around Shorehead roundabout.
