A MAN drove away from a crash scene - leaving his injured passenger at the roadside.

The man's Peugeot 307 was in a smash with a double-decker on Wakefield Road, near its junction with Chimney Lane, Lepton, at 6pm on Tuesday.

The car ended up hitting a garden wall, but the man drove off. An 18-year-old passenger suffered whiplash injuries and was left behind. The teenager, from Leeds, said the man had been giving him a lift and he did not know who he was.

There were no passengers on the bus and the driver was unhurt.
