A MAN had to be freed from his car after he was trapped following an accident.

The driver, believed to be in his 20s, was on Rawthorpe Lane when he hit a parked car, causing his Vauxhall Astra to flip upside down.

Three fire crews from Huddersfield and Elland were called to the scene of the smash which happened at about 8.45pm on Saturday.

Police and an ambulance crew also attended.

Watch manager Andy Flynn from Huddersfield fire station said: “The driver had collided with a parked car and the car was upside down in the middle of the road when we arrived.

“He was trapped, but we managed to open the car and get him out without needing to cut into it. He was conscious and breathing, but in quite a bit of shock.”

The man was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for further treatment.
