WORK to resurface the carriageway at Park Road, Elland are to start on Monday, June 7.

The works to improve the carriageway will take approximately two weeks to complete and drivers have been told to expect delays.

The majority of work will be carried out from 9.15am - 3.15pm with temporary traffic signals and convoy vehicles to keep traffic speed down to 10mph, for safety reasons.

Calderdale Council are encouraging people to take an alternative route or be prepared for delays around this area. Any side roads may be delayed by up to 20 minutes and delays of up to two hours when the surface course is laid across the junction.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Two short sections by the Park Wood crematorium entrance and under the railway bridge are to be resurfaced from 6.30pm – 12 midnight, for which the road will need to be closed.

During this time there will be access for pedestrians but there will be a diversion route for vehicles via the unaffected part of Park Road, Elland Bridge, Briggate, Elland Riorges Link, Dewsbury Road, Crowtrees Lane, Bramston Street, Briggate, Owler Ings Road, Elland Road, the unaffected part of Park Road and vice versa.
