AN EX prisoner was found dead in his home following a drugs binge, an inquest heard.

The body of Ashley Kitchen was discovered in his sparsely furnished home on Tichbourne Street, Batley, by a friend.

He was found lying unresponsive in front of his TV and pronounced dead there by paramedics on March 20.

A post mortem revealed the 38-year-old had taken a concoction of drugs, including heroin and cocaine as well as alcohol.

His blood contained a level of free morphine that was more than twice fatal levels previously recorded, Huddersfield Coroners’ Court heard.

Coroner Roger Whittaker heard that unemployed Mr Kitchen had been well supported following his release from prison, but was prone to erratic behaviour.

Mr Whittaker recorded that he died from multiple drug and alcohol toxicity due to drug abuse.
