A DRUNKEN man died from alcohol poisoning.

A Huddersfield inquest heard that Michael Ian Ripley, of Eastlands, Almondbury, had drunk the equivalent of 12 pints.

Mr Ripley’s friend Draza Balac had looked out of the window of his house at around 10pm on July 16 last year after hearing Mr Ripley outside.

He saw Mr Ripley, 44, was very drunk and then saw him fall over and hit his head. Mr Balac called an ambulance but when paramedics arrived they couldn’t rouse Mr Ripley.

He died later at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Coroner Roger Whittaker said he died from cardiorespiratory failure brought on by alcohol poisoning. He recorded a verdict of accidental death.
