A FAMILY of ducks brought traffic chaos to Huddersfield town centre.

The mother duck and no fewer than 11 ducklings were spotted waddling down Kirkgate at 4.15pm on Thursday – but no-one knows where they came from.

They held up traffic and were shepherded into St Peter’s Gardens and the RSPCA was alerted.

RSPCA animal collector Tina Hallas said: “By the time I arrived the mother duck had gone and it looked like she had taken three of the ducklings with her. There was no trace of her at all.

“The other ducklings were taken to the RSPCA centre in Halifax and have since gone to a lady who will rear them until they are old enough to be allowed back into the wild.’’
