FIVE Kirklees household recycling sites will be closing earlier over the winter months.

The council closes the Huddersfield, Meltham, Upper Cumberworth, Dewsbury and Batley sites at 4pm on weekdays during the winter.

The early closure will come into force next Monday until British Summer Time returns next year.

The sites, which recycle items including glass, paper, old clothing and garden waste, are at Emerald Street, Huddersfield; Bent Ley Road, Meltham; Bromley Farm, Upper Cumberworth; Thornhill Road, Dewsbury and Nab Lane, Birstall.

The sites open at 8am from Monday to Saturday and 9am on Sunday.
