POLICE have released this e-fit of a man they wish to trace after a 12-year-old boy was shot with a pellet in Newsome.

The incident happened on June 27 near the skate park off Newsome Road.

The boy was walking along the footpath with his scooter towards his mother when he was approached from behind by an Afro-Caribbean teenager carrying a BB airgun.

The youth threatened the 12-year old, demanding the boy's scooter.

The boy walked away from the suspect and heard the sound of the gun being fired at him.

A pellet hit the boy on the leg but did not cause an injury.

The victim continued walking to his mother who saw the incident taking place and intervened.

The suspect ran off.

He was an afro-Caribbean teenager, around 5'6" tall and wearing a black baseball cap with a large peak and a gold sticker.

He was also wearing a black T-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.
