A DEWSBURY man has been jailed for a violent attack on a man in his own home.

Paul Gray, 40, of Ravensthorpe Road, was given an indeterminate sentence by Judge Roger Ibbotson when he appeared at Leeds Crown Court.

But he was told he must serve at least four and a half years for robbery, after the court heard how he and an unknown accomplice attacked a couple in their home.

The male victim, who had gone to investigate noises at his home in Earlsheaton, last August, was beaten and had part of his ear bitten off.

His attacker also threatened to cut his wife’s throat.

Mr Christopher Aspinall, prosecuting, said the two intruders wore balaclavas and demanded to know where the couple kept their safe.

They fled with £5,500 from the house.

Andrew Dallas, for Gray, said he had been asked to go along on the robbery by the other man “to provide a bit of muscle”.

His accomplice has yet to be traced.
