A CALLOUS burglar who targeted elderly and vulnerable people in North Kirklees has been jailed after quick thinking neighbours photographed him.

Gary Cooper, 26, of Bank View, Earlsheaton, was sent to prison for 32 months at Leeds Crown Court.

He admitted burgling five properties in Earlsheaton and Hanging Heaton over the last two months.

Cooper was arrested after a quick-thinking neighbour of one of the victims took photos of him walking up and down driveways along their street, just one hour after he had burgled a house.

Officers from Dewsbury CID also stop-checked Cooper not long afterwards and, once the neighbour handed the photos to police, he was arrested.

A search of his home revealed loot from a number of the burglaries .
