Family-friendly Easter fair on its way to town

ALL the fun of the fair is coming to Huddersfield.

The town's traditional Easter funfair will arrive at St Andrew's Road, Turnbridge, on April 13.

The Showman's Guild of Great Britain will bring attractions from all over Yorkshire and Lancashire and from Derby and Scotland.

New rides this year include a traditional `galloping horse' carousel and bigger, better versions of scary rides for thrill-seekers.

There will be a ghost train, dodgems, waltzers and tamer children's rides and traditional stall games.

Fair organiser and Showman's Guild chairman Marshall Waddington said: "It is a good fun fair with a family atmosphere."

It runs from April 13 to 18, opening from 1pm until late most days, except for a 1.30pm opening on the first day and 11am on Easter Monday.

Last year's fair was put in doubt because of safety fears over old house cellars beneath a part of the car park that is used. But after stringent safety checks it was finally given the all clear.
