Classic cars with a difference will be in Huddersfield this weekend.

For more than 20 cars and a couple of motorbikes from old Eastern bloc countries will be stopping off at the National Coal Mining Museum at Grange Moor on Sunday between 2pm and 3.30pm.

The cars are on a tour of Yorkshire in an event organised by Soviet Auto Luxury Tours which specialises in Cold War history vehicles.

The rally, which will be based at Wortley Hall near Barnsley, is expected to feature Skodas, Trabants, Tatras, GAZ, VAZ, Yugos and Ladas.

They will be driving up to Holme Moss from the Derbyshire side and then stop at the Oil Can Cafe in The Carding Shed at Hepworth for morning coffee before driving to the museum.

Some of the enthusiasts will be in period dress.

The route and approximate times are Holme Moss (9.45am), Carding Shed at Hepworth (10.45am) – although this stop may be missed out if it’s raining hard to avoid ruining the grass there – Emley Moor (12.30pm) and the National Coal Mining Museum (1.15pm).
