THE family of a woman who died of a heart attack have found the perfect way to remember her.

Karen Graley loved taking part in quiz nights, so her mother, two daughters and husband set up a Karen’s Quiz competition in her memory.

The special needs support worker was just 47 when she died of a heart attack last November.

Her family felt a quiz night would be a good way to support the Huddersfield Heartline charity.

Their efforts since her death have already raised £1,400 and they are determined to do more.

Her mother, Christine Graley, from Moldgreen, said: “She did a lot for other people. She had an open house for everybody; that was the type of woman she was.

“All her family wanted to do something to remember her by.

“Karen loved her quizzes. She liked writing them, organising them and she loved taking part.

“So we all thought that would be a great way to raise money to support a good cause.

“I want to thank everyone so much for this brilliant effort in her memory.”

Mrs Graley was a support manager at Huddersfield Technical College.

She dedicated her life to working with people with special needs and learning difficulties.

And after her death her family staged Karen’s Quiz at the Brooks Arms and raised £300 for the Huddersfield heart charity.

It added to the £1,400 raised at her funeral and from donations from staff and students at the college.

Mrs Graley, Karen’s two daughters Leanne, 18, and Natasha, 23, and her husband Danny have vowed to continue the fundraising appeal.

Her daughters are now planning a charity ball to mark what would have been Mrs Graley’s 50th birthday.

Natasha said: “My mum died of a heart attack aged 47.

“It was so unexpected and more than a shock for family and friends.

“In 2010 I am planning a charity ball as my mum always said she would like a big fancy dress and to walk down a staircase having everyone look at her.”

The event will be in aid of Huddersfield Heartline.
