POLICE have found thousands of ecstasy tablets in Batley.

Events unfolded rapidly after officers from Kirklees Drugs Team stopped and searched a man in the town on Thursday afternoon.

The 37-year-old was arrested and police then searched a vehicle and a house in Batley.

They have now revealed they discovered 4,000 suspected ecstasy tablets and drugs paraphernalia.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Det Insp Andy Parr from Kirklees Drugs Team said: "The team will continue its work throughout Kirklees to disrupt local drugs markets.

"We are determined to identify and prosecute all those we believe to be involved to make our neighbourhoods safer for the law-abiding majority.

"We will not allow the actions of a few to bring misery into the lives of others. The message is simple - if you deal drugs then you're not welcome here.

"With local people calling the Dob in a Dealer hotline every day with information, chances are you're already on borrowed time."

Anyone with information about drug dealing in their areas should contact Dob In A Dealer at Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and give as much information as possible.

This could include locations, names, car registration numbers and the times when the dealing takes place.
