A NURSERY in Edgerton has won an award for its food.

Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School only recently opened.

But it has already been recognised for its high standard of food hygiene and healthy food options.

The nursery school has been awarded a Kirklees healthy choice gold award.

Fresh, healthy and nutritious food is prepared every day by the nursery cook for the children, who attend from birth until the age of five.

The menu changes with the seasons and is packed with fresh fruit and vegetables, pulses, grains, high quality meat and fish all sourced from local suppliers around Huddersfield.

Nursery manager Samantha Richmond said: “We spend a great deal of time outside with the children and it’s essential they are eating a well balanced nutritious meal to keep each child fit, healthy and active.

“We are delighted with this accolade and hope it will reassure parents of our commitment to quality.”
