Paddock Learning Centre is part of Paddock Community Forum, a registered charity which aims to get people back into learning, whatever their age.

The centre – based at the village hall on Church Street – offers a range of free courses, including beginners’ courses in IT, digital photography and web design.

After the courses forum chairman John Bostock presents certificates to the successful people.

Kirklees Council pays for the courses.

It makes sure they are created specifically for people who may have been unfortunate enough to have been out of education or those with few or no qualifications.

The centre manager, Simon Ashbee, said: “The open day was our most successful yet.

“We have also managed to help more people take that first step into learning and developing skills for the job market.”
