POLICE have made more arrests as they investigate a shooting at Fartown.

But they are also renewing their appeal for witnesses to the incident in which a 24-year-old man was shot in the face and neck.

A total of eight men have now been detained by Huddersfield detectives after the shooting early on Sunday.

Two have since been released but six men, all from Huddersfield, are being questioned at police stations in Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Halifax.

The inquiry centres on an incident in an alleyway linking Alder Street with Ashmere Grove, Fartown, shortly after midnight.

The injured man was treated in hospital.

Det Insp Sam Cooke, of Huddersfield CID, said: "We arrested three more men yesterday and are still holding six people for questioning.

"I am appealing to people who were in the Alder Street area to come forward.

"We believe a number of people heard or saw a commotion and may have seen people or vehicles in the area, and I would urge them to contact police."
