A GROUP of detectives investigated the limits of their stamina by climbing the three peaks in a day.

Detective Constables Nick Doyle and Shaun Lewis organised the event which saw a team of eight officers from Kirklees CID take on Mount Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis earlier this month.

The detectives are regular fundraisers for a number of Kirklees-based charities, including the Kirkwood Hospice, the Hollybank Trust and Cancer Research.

And despite their minibus breaking down, torrential rain and traffic chaos, the detectives managed to complete all three climbs in 23-hours and 50 minutes, raising over £5,000.

Undeterred by the experience, the officers now hope to raise even more money for their chosen charities and plan to take part in a Skydive, a cricket match, coast-to-coast cycle ride and hold a charity ball and auction in the months ahead.
