An 85-year-old woman has been left distraught after jewellery of sentimental value was stolen from her home.

The burglary happened at an address off Falconers Ride, Netherton, sometime between Tuesday August 18 and 8.15am on Friday August 21.

Entry was forced through a window and an untidy search made of the property.

A jewellery box was stolen containing a solitaire ring, a three diamond set ring, a pearl necklace with matching brooch, a tie pin in the shape of a golf bag, a solid gold cigarette case and a man’s gold wrist watch.

PC Christopher Eglen, of Kirklees Burglary Team, said: “These items hold huge sentimental value for the elderly victim and we are keen to hear from anyone who has been offered or seen such items for sale.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Kirklees Burglary Team via 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
