An elderly woman was left “shaken” after she was robbed in broad daylight.

The unsettling incident occurred at 10.30am on Saturday morning on one of Cleckheaton’s main shopping streets Northgate when a man approached the 68-year-old after she had just taken out an unknown amount of money from Barclays Bank outside cash machine .

According to Kirklees Police the victim had just turned away from the cash point when she was approached by the mid 20s to 30-year-old man, who told her: “Give me your money”.

He then fled the scene, leaving the woman in shock.

Det Insp Andy Leonard, of Kirklees CID, said police were now hunting the suspect.

“The victim said he was white and was in between six foot to six foot two inches.

“Fortunately she was not physically hurt during the incident but was very shaken up.

“We are now looking for witnesses who may have seen the incident or the male to come forward and help us with our investigations.

“We are also in the process of investigating if any CCTV cameras captured what happened.”
