NEIGHBOURS have lost their bid to get an electric fence removed from a firm's compound.
Bosses at Mac's Transport have got the all-clear after telling how the security measure had stopped break-ins at their Outlane business.
Nearby residents claimed the fence was dangerous in a built-up area. They also said it was an eyesore.
Managers at the company put up the fence without planning permission.
They were forced to apply for official approval after the neighbours complained.
Kirklees councillors who visited the site said they were happy with the fence, which is between 6ft and 9ft tall.
They heard how constant thefts and break-ins had stopped since the fence was installed.
A council report said: "This type of fence is controlled by Health and Safety Executive regulations."
