A MUSICIAN left her fans feeling the blues.

Elkie Brooks was due to perform at the Shepley Spring Festival last night but cancelled after losing her voice.

The British Queen of Blues, turned up at the site but later announced she was too ill to perform.

A night of free music was put on for those who turned up to the show but everyone who had paid to see the Brit nominated singer can receive a full refund.

The Salford-born singer released a statement to apologise to fans.

One of the Shepley Spring Festival organiser’s James McKinlay said: “It is a real shame that she is unable to perform but sadly she was taken ill during the day.

“It had proved very popular and we had more than filled a 400-stand only marquee.

“This was the first time we have added the Thursday to our festival and were thrilled at the response to Elkie’s show.

“The aim was to improve the profile of the event locally.

“We have so much going over the next few days for all the family.

“Tonight we have some big concerts, there is free admission for accompanied children under 12.

“During the day there will be plenty for children, lots of food stalls – including a girl from Brittany making crepes and a baker from The Great British bake-off.”

Anyone who has bought tickets will be given a full reimbursement – including any booking fee.
