AROUND 300 trees and bushes have been donated by the Woodland Trust to Elland.

The town’s Riverside Park was officially opened last month and members of the Elland and District Partnership heard about the donation.

One of the trees, an oak tree, was stolen but had been replaced by an unknown person and it was planted by the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Christine Harris.

Members of the Partnership heard about plans for a nature reserve at Cromwell Bottom, which will be discussed further at the next meet in August.

It takes place on Tuesday, August 7, at Willow Court, Victoria Road, Elland from 7pm and is open to all Elland residents interested in their town.
