A man has been severely injured in a road accident near Elland this morning.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries when he was in an accident with a bus on Wakefield Road, Salterhebble.
The road, next to Calderdale Way, is the main one from there to Sowerby Bridge.
The accident happened not far from the mini roundabout leading from Stainland Road onto the Calderdale Way and next to the Calder and Hebble Navigation canal.
A police spokeswoman has confirmed the pedestrian has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary for specialist treatment due to the nature of the injuries.
She added: “We were called to Wakefield Road at 10.23am today after reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus.
"The male pedestrian has serious injuries.”

The road remains closed while police accident investigation experts work at the scene.
The closure caused congestion in the area.
