A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found at an address in Elland this evening.

Police were called to Elizabeth Street, Elland at 7.19pm where they found the body of the man.

The police helicopter was also called in to provide tactical support as detectives began investigations.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Snow, from West Yorkshire Police’s Protective Services, said: "A 45-year-old man was arrested nearby and is in police custody on suspicion of murder.

"While the identity of the deceased male is yet to be confirmed he is believed to be a local man in his thirties.

"Neighbourhood officers are in the area providing reassurance to local residents and there is not believed to be any wider danger to the public."
