AN off-road motorbike was seized by Elland police after its owner rode across a school playing field.

Police are warning bikers to stay away from school fields and footpaths or risk having their bikes seized.

Others have been spotted riding their bikes around Lightcliffe and Rastrick.

Insp Mohammed Nawaz who is in charge of the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “These bikes are dangerous and noisy and we are taking action against them.

“I want this to be warning – we will catch you and we will seize your bike.”

Youths, who often do not wear helmets, have been seen on paths and school fields without permission.

Once a bike is seized the rider has to be able to provide proof they have a valid driving licence and insurance policy for it.

If they are unable to do so the bike will be crushed.
