A NEW email service was launched on the steps of Huddersfield Town Hall to help raise cash for good causes.

The service at the www. ippimail.com website was set up to provide an outlet for local and national charities to raise their profile.

Users can sign up for a free email account by completing a marketing questionnaire. And they can choose to support a number of charities without donating their time or money.

It aims to generate income through ads on the site. Charities will receive 45%.

Kirklees Mayor Clr Margaret Fearnley, who was at the launch, said: "I think the website is a wonderful idea and I know that the people of Huddersfield will be keen to sign up and help support local charities."

Co-founder of the site Lorraine Hirst said: "I'm originally from Huddersfield and so I thought this would be the perfect place to launch the site, because I feel that people round here are particularly community- minded."
