THE official World Cup song went on sale today.

But World At Your Feet, by Brighouse band Embrace, faces tough competition for the top slot in the charts.

At least 30 unofficial songs have already been released and more are expected in the run-up to the start of the World Cup on Friday.

Embrace have described their song as "a rousing anthem".

And lead singer Danny McNamara, 35, revealed that the idea came to him while he was in the bath!

The guitar band hope the nation will be singing along to: "You know it's going to be our time/Cause the world is at your feet", when England begin their World Cup campaign on Saturday with a match against Paraguay.

The song, which does not feature any vocal contributions from footballers, was first played last month on Match of the Day.

Now it has hit the shops and retailers believe it will be a hit.

Jeff Miller, of the Huddersfield branch of Music Zone in the Kingsgate Centre, said: "It's a great little tune, the sort of quality we have come to expect from Embrace.

"There are a lot of World Cup songs out this time but most of them are novelty records, like the Tony Christie one.

"This is a proper song and I think it will do very well.

"It helps us with Embrace being a local band and certainly when their last album came out, our shop was outselling all the others by at least three to one."

The band have also re-released their last album with a version of World At Your Feet included in the new edition.
