A HUDDERSFIELD man is due in court today over the death of a child.

Emley driver Peter Renshaw is to go on trial at Leeds Crown Court, accused of causing the death of a six-year-old boy by dangerous driving.

Renshaw, 22, of Grange Drive, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Owen Wightman was struck by a car while out playing with a friend close to his home in Wakefield on June 18,

Owen lived in Wakefield with his parents, Joanne, 33, and Neil, 31, and brothers Jack and Thomas.

After his death they issued a statement which read: “He was a perfect little man who was taken from us – just perfect in every way.

“He walked into a room and lit it up. He was our bundle of joy and our little ray of sunshine.”
