ROADWORKS which have caused long hold-ups in Wakefield Road, Aspley, should be finished later today.

Gas engineers have completed repairs on a leaking gas main in Wakefield Road, close to Somerset Road.

Now they are filling in and resurfacing the road. Two lanes have been closed since Tuesday.

WORK is due to start next Monday on the second phase of changes to Wakefield Road, Dewsbury. The junctions with Rishworth Road and Leeds Road will be altered to include controlled pedestrian crossing points, new guard rails and resurfaced pavements. It is expected to take around eight weeks to complete.

The contractor has agreed that no lane restrictions will be used during the day but will be used at night if necessary.
