GRASS and other vegetation seen sprouting from the unlikely setting of Huddersfield Town Hall is to be dealt with by Kirklees Council workers.

The plants which have taken root in the cracks and crevices of the building were spotted by eagle-eyed members of the public and captured here on camera by Examiner photographer Julian Hughes.

But action is in hand.

A council statement said: "The grass on the Peel Street side has been removed.

"An electronic `cherry picker' is being hired to remove the grass on less accessible parts of the building on Sunday, September 5, so there will be minimum inconvenience."
