ENGINEER and mature student Rachel Wareham has been highly commended at the 2008 West Yorkshire Learner Awards.
Rachel, 34, of Dewsbury, began as an apprentice for David Brown Engineering and worked her way up the company gaining qualifications including an HNC from Huddersfield University. Now she designs gear units, drafts technical calculations and liaises with international teams for the company.
Part-time student Rachel is due to graduate in Computer Aided Engineering at Huddersfield University in 2009.
She says: “I’m a very motivated and committed individual and I think it’s really important for adults to continue learning as much as they can.”
