Super mums are being sought for a national competition.

Supermarket giant Tesco is calling on people to put their mothers up for the Mum of the Year Awards 2014.

Women who raise money for charity, help in the local area, support their families in difficult times and generally give back to others could be in with a chance.

Last year, Huddersfield mum Kate Hardcastle won Enterprising Mum of the Year, after she helped create a community group to support lesser-known charities. Staff in her own company are also paid to volunteer one day a week.

Celebrity ambassador Denise van Outen said: “Mums are so important and are our country’s true unsung heroes.’’

The deadline for 2014 nominations is 11.55pm on Friday September 13. Winners will be invited to attend a glamorous London ceremony in March next year.
