EQUALITY campaigner Kiran Bali has been awarded a prestigious international role.

Ms Bali will be appointed as international interfaith minister by the US-based Unity and Diversity World Council (UDC) which promotes co-operation between communities.

The role, held by few UK citizens, aims to unite communities and faiths.

Kiran, who is director and treasurer of Yorkshire and Humber Faiths Forum, will be ordained shortly in Los Angeles.

The former Huddersfield Interfaith Council chairman said: “I hope I am able to further inspire and motivate members of all local communities.”
