PLANNERS look set to block a proposal to build homes at Low Fold Farm in Little Lepton.

The farm has 66 stables and provides riding courses for 60 able-bodied and disabled students from Kirklees College.

Farm owner Ms S Pearson has asked Kirklees Council for permission to build 14 homes on the Green Balk Lane site.

Thirty-one residents have written to Kirklees opposing the plan.

Their objections include:

The development would be inappropriate in the green belt

The proposal would double the size of Little Lepton

Green Balk Lane could not cope with the volume of traffic.

Kirklees officers have recommended that permission is refused.

The council’s Heavy Woollen Planning Sub-committee will rule on the proposal at its meeting at Dewsbury Town Hall at 1pm on Thursday.
