CHILDREN at a Cleckheaton school are to be able to chat more with their friends and teachers, thanks to a charitable donation.

Fairfield School has bought a new Tech Scan 8 communication aid after a donation from Britannia Building Society.

Kay Newton, of the school, said the donation would help children learn and improve their quality of life.

The equipment was bought with a £699 cheque from the society’s community fund which aims to support educational initiatives.

The school works hard to remove and overcome any obstacles which prevent a child from learning.

It is currently working on several new projects including one to provide communication aids.

It has recently taken on three new members of staff, one qualified in Braille and two who specialise in communication.
