A CHILDREN’S museum is joining forces with a hospice for youngsters.
Eureka! in Halifax is teaming up with Huddersfield’s Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice to launch a new project.
Eureka! Explorers is a new fun club for the brothers and sisters of children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.
Thanks to funding from Community Foundation for Calderdale, the project is offering a series of six free Sunday Clubs, running from June 17 to July 22.
Eureka! Explorers will offer an important opportunity to give siblings much-needed time for themselves, away from what can be an extremely stressful situation.
The project will reinforce just how important siblings are, give them the chance to meet other children in the same situation and, courtesy of the Eureka! team, have a lot of fun along the way.
An invitation will be sent to all families supported by the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice this month.
Steve Duncan, chief executive of Community Foundation for Calderdale, said: “We are delighted to be funding this project, and it’s great to see two local charities working collaboratively in this way.
“The project is not only supporting local children and families but is also a great showcase for how charities can work together, to the benefit of all involved.”
