ROAD resurfacing work is to take place in Town Gate, Holmfirth, on two evenings this month and the road will be closed to through traffic.

The £30,000 project will take place at Town Gate on Monday evenings on August 11 and 18.

The resurfacing will start at the bottom of Dunford Road to Daisy Lane, at the exit to the bus station, and take in part of the bus station in front of the Post Office.

Drivers should note that the A635 Town Gate will be closed to through traffic by the bus station on these two evenings and a diversion will be signed via Thongsbridge.

Clr David Hall, Kirklees Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said: “We make every effort to co-ordinate our work to cause the least difficulty for motorists and local people.

“Monday evenings were chosen by local businesses as the time which would cause the least disruption and this is why we have programmed the work for this time.”
