Job-seekers have the chance to become part of the match-day experience at Huddersfield Town’s John Smith’s Stadium.

Up to 100 staff are employed at Town games and stadium bosses have launched a recruitment drive.

Sodexo Prestige, which runs catering at the stadium, has a new general manager who is keen to boost the match-day staff.

Ian Simpson has joined Sodexo after a 15-year spell at Everton’s Goodison Park. He was appointed stadium general manager at the Premier League club in 2009.

During that time he was responsible for managing an annual £3.8 million turnover in match day hospitality, stadium operation, conferencing and events.

Now he is bringing that experience to Huddersfield and Ian said: “This is fantastic opportunity for me and I am looking forward to making a difference.

“I want to bring experience, knowledge and some consistency.

This is a community stadium and we want to involve the local community in what we do.”

One of Ian’s first tasks is to recruit new staff for a variety of match-day roles from stewards and stadium staff to kitchen, hospitality and bar staff.

Ian is also looking to recruit a deputy and there are also supervisor roles available.

“I want to get the message out that we are looking for experienced people with a can-do attitude,” he said.

“There must be many people in the local community who want to work with us on a match day and we would be pleased to hear from them.”

Prior to working at Goodison Park, Ian spent around 21 years in the hotel industry with International chains such as Intercontinental, Millennium Copthorne, Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza and the Portland Thistle Hotel in Manchester.
