BREAKFAST TV host Lorraine Kelly is calling on the people of Huddersfield to take part in a new fundraising campaign to help the homeless.

The GMTV presenter and star of LK Today is donating her own recipe of scones in support of Cake Time, a new initiative set up by national charity Shelter, who work to help the homeless and badly housed people.

The campaign is asking people to bake or buy their favourite cake and share it with friends, family and colleagues and help raise vital funds for the charity.

Lorraine Kelly, said: “There’s no time like Cake Time. Treat yourself to my favourite scones and you’ll enjoy them even more knowing that every bite is helping Shelter.”

Cake Time is supported by Billington’s unrefined sugar.

Recipes include Sarah Beeny’s chocolate muffins and Nigel Slater’s coffee and walnut cake.

Adam Sampson, chief executive of Shelter, said: “Currently, there are 1,700 homeless households trapped in temporary accommodation in Yorkshire and the Humber, robbing them of their health, education and future chances.

“The money you raise through Cake Time will go towards helping families like these find and keep a permanent home of their own.”
