A FORMER Huddersfield Giants rugby league player has been suspended only a month after signing for his new club.

Forward Martin Aspinwall – who played for the Giants in their Challenge Cup final in 2009 – only signed for Hull FC from Castleford Tigers last month.

The 30-year-old has had a troubled time recently. Earlier this year he spent five weeks in prison after admitting dangerous driving, four weeks after receiving a suspended sentence for assault.

Aspinwall, who has also played for Wigan and Great Britain, has yet to play a game for Hull FC.

In a brief statement the club said: “The forward was suspended over the weekend whilst the club look into a disciplinary matter.

“The club will make no further comment at this time.’’
