A FORMER Huddersfield Town favourite is odds-on for success with a TV reality show.

Striker Dale Tempest, who netted 29 times for the Terriers between 1984 and 1986 is now a public relations director for Skybet.

The Harrogate-based company are the official interactive bookies for Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 4.

Dale, 41, enjoyed his time at Town, both as a player and as the club's public relations manager.

He added: "It was great. I'd been at Fulham before, who had a very strong team and coming to Huddersfield gave me the chance to be a first-teamer."

"I was top scorer for my two seasons. When I went in to talk about a new contract with Mick Buxton I was told I could have £10 a week extra because I had done so well !"

Dale played for a variety of clubs before spending nine years in Hong Kong with South China FC.

Dale said: "The league was similar to the Scottish Premier League, in that a couple of teams really dominate.

"I was lucky enough to join one of those teams. I was top scorer in the league for five of my six seasons there."

While in the Far East Dale studied for a degree in sports science.

He added: "People expect me as a former footballer to run a pub. When I was at Town I went on a year-long training course with a brewery.

"The only thing it made me want to decide is that I didn't want to run a pub. It wasn't for me. The social side was great - but the long hours were too much."

Dale said there had been massive interest in Big Brother.

He added: "It's getting more and more popular. When I first started in this job betting on `specials' was a bit of fun.

"Now it has grown so much. It's a different sort of person who watches Big Brother rather than the football or the racing.

"We do different sorts of bets. At the moment we are offering 20-1 that John McCririck is offered a contract with Diet Coke when he leaves the show - but we had a guy win £55,000 for a £30 bet on the football on Saturday.

"I think Bez will win Big Brother as he appeals to people of all ages .

"As for Town, I would wait until you see the handicaps for next season to have a bet. Back-to-back promotions are very hard to do. It can take a season for players to get to their level."
