HUDDERSFIELD basked in the sun yesterday as the mercury hit highs of 21°C.

Sunbathers headed down to Greenhead Park while kids splashed in the cool fountains at St George’s Square.

But Examiner weatherman Paul Stevens told people to make the most of it.

He said: “It’s nothing like the heatwave we had a couple of weeks ago.

“The feel of the weather will change today with a cold front bringing a flow of cold air all the way from the Arctic.”

Paul said over the next week, the weather would remain a few degrees above average for the time of year, but with the potential of ground frosts in the mornings.

He said the weekend would see lower temperatures of 18 or 19°C but would remain sunny.

He continued: “As we move into next week it will be a little cooler.

“We’re not going to get heatwave weather over the next month but the temperatures will be a few degrees above normal for this time of the year.”
