THEY love football and everything about the game.

Meltham’s Under 10 football team has 14 lads who are friends on and off the pitch.

And after a few turbulent years they’re on the track for success.

The only problem is, they don’t have the right football kit.

Meltham Under 10s have entered Examiner Wish to raise funds to buy a new kit which fits the young boys.

Sherida Hepplestone, who helps run the club said: “Our U10s team are in desperate need of a new kit and winter training gear.

“The boys have had a change of manager for the last two years and due to our local home pitch not being suitable for use we had to cancel many of our home games last season thus not bringing in any funds from the sale of raffle tickets, tea/coffee and tuck shop, so money is very tight thisseason.

“Boys have left and new boys joined of all different shapes and sizes so not all the kit fits the boys.

“It would be a fantastic boost for the team to be all kitted out in a kit to suit their size and shape.”

Many members of team, part of Meltham AFC, have played football since they were seven.

Sherida added: “We are always looking for young enthusiastic boys who enjoy their football and want to come along and play.

“To us it is not about winning all the time but to do what they like to do and play football.”

Sherida said the Examiner Wish provided a “kick-start” in tough times for local clubs.
