THEY’RE a society which aims to give blind people more independence.

The Huddersfield Society for the Blind, based at Britannic House, Upperhead Row is a society for all visually impaired people living within the old borough of Huddersfield.

Joyce Graham, who helps run the sociable group, said: “We have a group of wonderful people who collect our members from home, entertain them, provide afternoon tea and make sure they are taken home again.

“We also have trips to the coast, parties and meals out. We are a caring society and endeavour to do all we can to make life a little more enjoyable for so many people.”

They’ve entered the Examiner Wish to boost the group’s social activities and money received will be spent on providing entertainment, days out and social events for members.

Joyce added: “We all here at the Blind Society think the Wish is a wonderful way to let people know about all the good works being carried out in our area.”

The final Wish tokens will appear in tomorrow’s Examiner and groups must then submit them to us by January 7.
