WE ALL know community is important.

But now, being part of a community doesn’t start when you step out of your front door – it can begin on your computer.

New forum chat rooms and commenting tools on www.examiner.co.uk are aimed at making our own community online – bringing you closer to your trusted Examiner than ever before.

When you want to have your say on the stories of the day, talk to other people from Huddersfield as well as ex-pats you can just log into our website.

There, you can join more than 1,200 other people who have completed our easy, quick and free registration process.

Previously to have your say you had to take part in a forum, but now you can just choose whatever story you want and write your views at the bottom of it.

Whether it’s something that’s got your goat or want to say ‘good on you’, we want to hear from you.

When you’re logged in you can also recommend stories by clicking on the icon to say you think that this story should be ‘recommended’.

The more times people like you recommend a story, the higher up a new ‘most recommended’ chart it will move.

Plus, people can check out what stories you have recommended so you can find other people who like what you like – and share and find out about stories that you may have missed.

When you log in you’ll also have your own online name or pseudonym and can put an image next to your online name.

You can make friends and send messages to each other through our new system, which has been used by other newspapers such as The Guardian and USA Today.

Plus our forums have been revamped using the same software.

You can meet other people online and have your say on whatever you want.

Our forum users talk about everything from St George’s Square and Castle Hill to going to Tesco in your pyjamas and what you’d spend the cash on if you won the lottery.

There are currently more than 7,000 comments on nearly 500 discussions on the website – and it’s easy for you to add yours, just register at

www.examiner.co.uk/registration

As well as being able to comment on stories and chat in our forums, when you register you can also sign up to get the news sent directly to you.

Every lunchtime the Examiner sends out emails with our top five news, Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants stories.

When you sign up, you can pick any of these e-mails to be sent to you.

Community spirit is alive and well with your Examiner!
