THE Examiner’s office in Huddersfield town centre is to close after a fall in the number of people using it.

The office at 56 John William Street is due to shut on May 17.

The office has been a place where people can book holidays, place advertisements, buy photographs and drop in mail destined for the main Examiner building at Pennine Business Park, Bradley.

Once the office closes people will be able to book advertisements over the phone and these numbers will be publicised in the Examiner over the coming weeks.

Readers will also be able to book holidays over the phone or buy photographs via our website.

People also drop letters off in the town centre and the current Examiner postbox at Arden News on the Piazza will remain.

Examiner editor Roy Wright said: “There has been a decline over the past two years in the number of people using our town centre office and we expect this trend to continue which has led to the difficult decision we have had to make about its future.

“We are putting alternative arrangements in place to make it as easy as possible for people to contact us.”

The move will lead to potentially four redundancies.

The advertisement phone lines are open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, from 8am to 6pm on Fridays and from 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
